Description:

Markel International is seeking a highly skilled Delegated Authority Manager to join their team. This pivotal role will oversee underwriting and claims controls across multiple divisions, ensuring effective due diligence and regulatory compliance in the Delegated Authority processes. As a key member of the Wholesale Operations team, you will support the effectiveness of Markel International’s Due Diligence process and lead efforts to improve processes for Delegated Underwriting and Claims onboarding. You will ensure compliance is consistently achieved, while managing the Delegated workflow system and delivering necessary management information.

The position offers the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of Delegated Authority operations, with direct involvement in regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Delegated Authority onboarding process, ensuring thorough due diligence reviews of coverholders

  • Oversee implementation of the Delegated workflow system and ensure it meets all functional requirements

  • Maintain and update the Delegated Authority and Claims business monitoring tracker

  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements for Delegated business

  • Collaborate with Governance, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, and Claims teams to meet regulatory requirements

  • Co-chair the Delegated Oversight Group(s) and attend the Delegated Oversight Committee as required

  • Develop and align the Delegated Authority and Claims function to ensure quality and consistency in meeting KPIs and SLAs

  • Manage post-bind activity processes to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks


Our Must-Haves:

  • Previous experience in Delegated Authority Management, ideally within a Syndicate/Managing Agent/Lloyd's of London perspective

  • Experience in UK and International consumer delegated authority business, particularly UK binding authorities and recent regulatory changes in the UK Consumer Duty space

  • In-depth knowledge of Lloyd's DA regulations, including DCOM and ATLAS

  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively to support business development

  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and organizational skills

  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and inspire teams towards common objectives

  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
