Department Head

At Optimus Plus, we’re redefining what’s possible in energy and offshore engineering. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Department Head – Structural to lead our structural discipline with energy, expertise, and vision.

This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for ensuring the competence, capability, and smooth delivery of all structural engineering projects. You’ll play a vital part in how we deliver for our clients and develop our people—while helping us drive innovation across sectors.

As Department Head – Structural, you will:

Business Development

• Be a key figure in maintaining and growing strong client relationships.
• Contribute discipline expertise to bids, tenders, and CTRs.
• Support marketing and maintain the strong reputation of Optimus Plus.

Engineering Leadership

• Act as the contract focal point for our Structural Integrity services.
• Oversee and approve structural designs, ensuring compliance and quality.
• Allocate work efficiently, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.
• Uphold competence standards and support continual team development.

Commercial Responsibility

• Manage discipline budgets through our time-writing system.
• Handle commercial variations and change control.
• Liaise with clients on billing and performance issues.
• Report on commercial and operational performance at senior level.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in an Engineering discipline (BSc or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status (preferred).
• Extensive experience in detailed design and engineering approval.
• Strong understanding of Autodesk design tools and MS Office.
• Thorough knowledge of Oil & Gas codes and standards.
• Proven experience in managing and mentoring engineering teams.
