Description:
The Diocese of Carlisle (The Church of England) is currently seeking a Deputy Diocesan Safeguarding Officer to join their Penrith-based team. This part-time role is central to the Church’s mission to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and protect the well-being of children, young people, and vulnerable adults within the Diocese.
In this critical safeguarding role, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Managing a diverse and sensitive caseload involving safeguarding concerns or allegations.
Conducting risk assessments and working collaboratively to ensure proper case management.
Supporting the DSO in developing and maintaining safeguarding practices, policies, and procedures across the Diocese.
Aiding in the effective implementation of the Parish Safeguarding Dashboard.
Working with relevant agencies to ensure individuals who pose a risk are properly monitored and supported.
Promoting a culture of safeguarding throughout the Diocese through training, guidance, and policy adherence.
The role requires professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to safeguarding values. Candidates should possess substantial safeguarding experience and the ability to inspire trust and confidence in clergy, volunteers, and parishioners alike.
This position is offered at 28 hours per week, with a flexible approach to part-time working welcomed. The salary is £43,525 FTE with a 15% non-contributory pension, pro rata to a 35-hour workweek. An Enhanced DBS check is mandatory.
