Deputy Team Leader

The Deputy Team Leader is a junior leadership role supporting Maintenance operations at our Royston site. This role is responsible for supporting the Team Lead with daily running of a team of 10-15 Multi-Skilled Technicians.

The role is split between conduction preventative and reactive maintenance tasks alongside your team and supervising the daily activities of the team to ensure the effective, timely provision of quality services. The remainder of the time will be spent undertaking leadership responsibilities as directed in support of the (TL) including, developing and mentoring team members to maximise the efficient use of available resources.

This role will operate on a 5 On/4 Off rotation, inclusive of Day and Nightshift patterns.

Your responsibilities:
 

  • Responsible for delivery and adherence to the maintenance Plan and associated priorities, ensuring that the maintenance team, delivers the required Maintenance input maximising the Production output of the plant, with the effective deployment of the appropriate available resources.
  • Liaising with Production department to minimise downtime of the plant by timely reporting of issues and subsequent coordination, using the CMMS system.
  • Triage (WR) Work requests in the CMMS system, to make sure there is adherence and alignment from all work requestors, and being responsible for approving or denying (WR)
  • Responsible for team’s comments input in CMMS, extracting as much detail as possible to the job card, and reviewing teams booked hrs daily
  • Supporting the reliability Engineer, to help him to gain the teams buy-in and adherence on the new initiatives that are rolled out.
  • Ensuring that each team member is competent to undertake the roles assigned to them and that they have been effectively trained in the processes and associated risks and risk mitigation requirements.
  • Responsible for the delivery of quality outputs and ensuring that each task is effectively closed off to the required JM standard

     

Requirements for the role:
 

  • Hold a formal qualification in Engineering such as HNC/HND or equivalent recognised training (Essential)
  • Have demonstrable understanding of EHS management principles (Essential)
  • Experience of working with performance metrics to drive continuous improvement (Essential)
  • Experience of supervising/management of small teams (Essential)
  • Have a LEAN qualification or demonstrable experience of LEAN principles and methods (Essential)
  • Have a postgraduate qualification (or demonstrable experience) in a Chemistry/Technology/Scientific rated discipline (Desirable)
  • Technical plant experience (Desirable)
