Ignite Hubs is a dynamic education charity dedicated to helping children and young people aged 7 to 18 broaden their horizons and prepare for future careers through skills development, connections, and hands-on experiences. Currently, Ignite Hubs delivers engaging coding and STEM classes, with a strong emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups such as girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The charity currently teaches nearly 200 students weekly and has positively impacted over 1,000 children since its inception. Classes are delivered both virtually and in-person at libraries across Southwark, SE London. The long-term ambition is to expand this offering nationwide across five key educational hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity, and Health & Wellbeing.

Role Overview:
Ignite Hubs is launching an Online Learning Platform in September 2025, and the organisation is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Design and Technology Instructor to develop high-quality, curriculum-aligned resources to support students preparing for GCSE Design and Technology. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking charity and shape educational materials that will inspire, educate, and empower young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Content Creation:

  • Develop engaging resources aligned with the GCSE Design and Technology curriculum.
  • Create video tutorials, lesson plans, worksheets, and interactive activities to support student learning.
  • Design coding challenges, quizzes, and practice exams to reinforce key concepts and prepare students for assessments.
  • Ensure all content is accessible and tailored to students' learning needs.

🔹 Collaboration with 3D Technology Instructors:

  • Work closely with onsite 3D Technology Instructors to align online content with hands-on practical projects.
  • Integrate 3D design and technology projects into online materials to create blended learning opportunities.
  • Co-develop projects combining online learning with in-person activities at Una Marson Library, Southwark.

🔹 Curriculum Alignment:

  • Ensure all content fully aligns with the GCSE Design and Technology curriculum.
  • Include real-world examples and practical design challenges to make content engaging and relevant.

🔹 Student Support:

  • Develop revision materials, exam preparation content, and study tips to help students excel.

About You – Required Skills & Qualifications:
✅ Strong passion for education and improving opportunities for young people.
✅ Deep knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for GCSE Design and Technology.
✅ Familiarity with AQA, OCR, and Edexcel exam specifications.
✅ Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE D&T, either in schools or online.
✅ Proficiency in relevant design software and tools (e.g., CAD, graphic design).
✅ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and engagingly.
✅ Experience in creating educational content (lesson plans, video tutorials, worksheets).
✅ Familiarity with content creation tools such as video editing software or interactive quiz platforms (Desirable).
✅ Experience with 3D design software (e.g., Tinkercad, Fusion 360) is a bonus.
