Desktop Support Specialist

Description:

A leading Creative Agency is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to join their IT support team in Manchester. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth operation of desktop infrastructure by providing level 2 and level 3 support for both on-site and remote users.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, along with troubleshooting hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

💻 Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide desktop-related support for on-site and remote users (Level 2 & Level 3)
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems and applications
• Troubleshoot technical issues to ensure minimal downtime

⚙️ Hardware & Inventory Management

• Support and manage office hardware, including end-user devices and video conferencing equipment
• Handle inventory, installations, upgrades, and repairs
• Work with vendors and third-party service providers as needed

🤝 Collaboration & Customer Service

• Deliver customer-centric IT support, ensuring high-quality issue resolution
• Collaborate with teams to improve IT operations and workflows

Key Skills & Qualifications:

✅ Previous experience in a Desktop Engineer / Technical Support role
✅ Strong background in Windows, macOS, and Linux OS support
✅ In-depth knowledge of desktop hardware, software, and peripherals
✅ Familiarity with desktop management tools (SCCM/MDT), scripting languages (PowerShell/Bash), network protocols, and VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
✅ Excellent communication and customer service skills
