Digital Infrastructure Engineer

 

Description:

As part of a small team, you’ll maintain our private-cloud datacentre and applications, utilising server and applications virtualisation technology. We still use some legacy technology, so you’ll need a creative and innovative approach as you assist with our transformation journey.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure our (private cloud) datacentre, including server hardware, virtualisation technologies and networking equipment, is managed and supported, following best practice.
  • Perform server and operating system administration, including Windows Linux build, configuration, maintenance and security patching.
  • Manage and maintain remote office Windows servers and their hosted applications.
  • Proactively lead on incident, problem, change and capacity management in relation to the network and data infrastructure.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the delivery of future digital projects, including moving to the Cloud.
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate risk in relation to the data-hosting and network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with hosting and network service providers, ensuring our estate is optimised and remains highly available.
  • Invoke and maintain the back-up and disaster recovery (DR) strategies and coordinate regular system testing.
  • Work with the Digital Security Team to ensure adequate and appropriate cyber-defence measures are in place to protect FLS’ digital estate.
  • Write and update documentation and diagrams - for example, schematics, diagrams etc.
