Description:
Sage is seeking an Editor-In-Chief for Sage Open, a leading open access megajournal covering the social and behavioral sciences and humanities. The EiC will lead strategic, intellectual, and operational direction of the journal, uphold academic standards, and ensure diversity and inclusion. Responsibilities include overseeing peer review, curating impactful content, building relationships with authors and institutions, promoting open science principles, and expanding the journal’s reach.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement editorial vision aligned with open science and growth targets.
Lead associate editors, section editors, and editorial board; possibly manage internal staff.
Build and maintain relationships with authors, reviewers, academic institutions, and associations.
Solicit high-quality submissions and special issues in emerging social science fields.
Oversee peer review process for rigorous, fair, and timely evaluations.
Finalize editorial decisions ensuring compliance with journal standards.
Monitor publication metrics and uphold journal reputation.
Promote diversity in authorship, peer review, and editorial practices.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent in social sciences.
Distinguished academic publication record.
Ability to evaluate research across diverse social science subfields.
Strong networking and editorial experience.
Deep understanding of open access publishing.
Leadership, organizational, and excellent communication skills.
Digital fluency with editorial management systems (e.g., ScholarOne).
