Main Responsibilities
Your main areas or responsibility will be:
- Responding to Headteachers decision to exclude a pupil
- Offering advice and support to the family
- Supporting the statutory process of exclusion as an impartial advisor/observer
- Securing the child's 6th day educational provision
- Completing the administrative task which are associated with the process.
Currently we employ four full-time education inclusion officers who provide a service across the county, your position will be to add extra capacity to these existing roles in four of our high demand area's.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- a degree or a professional qualification at an equivalent level (such as social work or teaching) or equivalent experience.
- a thorough understanding of the complex factors which may influence behaviour in educational settings and strategies to address these.
- an understanding of exclusion procedures, legal framework and latest DfE Guidance on Exclusion from School and keeping children safe in education.
- proven ability to work in partnership with families, professionals and schools to bring about positive change
- the ability to work alone or as part of a team, whilst under pressure.
- the skills to work inclusively, create space for the voice of the child and promote opportunities for children to learn and grow.
- good communication and organisation skills, and be able to record your work onto a computer data base.
- means to travel across the county/district areas.
