Hoare Lea, a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy, is seeking a Electrical Engineer to join its Cardiff office. Hoare Lea specializes in providing intelligent and sustainable solutions for the built environment across the UK and internationally, covering disciplines including acoustics, air quality, building services (MEP), fire, lighting, security, and sustainability. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex and significant engineering projects as part of a dynamic and diverse team of designers, engineers, and technical specialists.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and delivering electrical systems, coordinating with project teams, and liaising with clients, contractors, and architects to ensure high-quality technical outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide detailed, coordinated, and cost-efficient electrical design advice for a variety of projects.

• Develop specifications, calculations, and reports to deliver comprehensive electrical engineering solutions.

• Design electrical systems using the latest software packages (e.g., BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux, Relux).

• Ensure solid technical delivery individually or as part of a team.

• Explore innovative approaches to work, research, and stay updated with industry practices.

• Attend client meetings, DTMs, and site inspections.

• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently; may be responsible for individual projects.

Requirements / About You:

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with successful delivery of complex projects.

• Familiarity with modern technical delivery processes and engineering software/tools.

• Experience working collaboratively with clients, contractors, and architects in a consultancy environment.

• Strong written communication skills to produce reports, specifications, and calculations.

• Self-awareness, open-mindedness, and a collaborative spirit.

• Ability to support others in developing knowledge, skills, and confidence.
