Join BAM Nuttall to Help Build One of the UK’s Largest Construction Projects – Hinkley Point C

BAM UK & Ireland is looking for a highly capable Engineering Manager to support our significant involvement in the Hinkley Point C energy project located in Somerset. This major nuclear construction initiative is a cornerstone of the UK's future sustainable energy supply, and we are seeking a strong engineering leader to help us deliver excellence across all stages of project development and execution.

This is a temporary, full-time, on-site role, reporting directly to the Project Director. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK, and BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance is required due to the nuclear site environment (which may take up to 8 weeks to process).

Key Responsibilities:

• Temporary Works: Engage early in the project lifecycle with temporary works design and checking

• Permanent Works: Review and support permanent engineering solutions and ensure buildability

• Tender and ECI Support: Provide early-stage technical advice, value engineering input, and design collaboration

• Technical Leadership:

  • Liaise with clients during ECI and tender stages

  • Lead design meetings and manage interface with consultants and site teams

  • Advise on CDM (Construction Design and Management), HSQE, and engineering compliance

  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers

• Point of Contact: Serve as the first point of contact for all client and site team technical queries

• People Management:

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships within BAM and the supply chain

  • Conduct site audits and provide feedback on engineering standards and compliance

  • Represent BAM in external forums

  • Deliver training, coaching, and mentorship

• Stakeholder Interaction: Work closely with Head Office (Surrey), BAM Ritchies, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers

Candidate Requirements:

• Practical experience managing engineering management systems

• Strong knowledge of design delivery, project management, risk/commercial awareness, and government legislation

• Skilled in collaboration, technical leadership, and stakeholder management

• Ability to deliver presentations, conduct training, and communicate effectively at all levels

• Experience using Business Intelligence (BI) tools and a passion for continuous improvement
