Description:
As the Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for forming a key part of the airport's operational duty management team, leading the engineering shift, and the management and provision of engineering services and essential utilities at Gatwick. Coordinating the permit to work system whilst ensuring hazardous activities are carried out safely and securely.
What is the Role:
As the Engineering Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- The GAL/UKPNS (up to 33kV) electrical distribution network for Gatwick.
- All operational permits and work requests while on shift (including electrical, confined spaces, hot works, etc.).
- Maintaining the availability of Engineering services and main utilities, coordinating engineering technicians to ensure an effective engineering solution is provided to support a stable operation.
- Liaising with the emergency services to provide engineering expert advice during periods of need.
- Managing and authorising safe systems of work and contractor management systems.
- Operating engineering systems including fire alarms, BMS, HVAC and pump station faults, preventing pollution, etc.
- Building strong and effective stakeholder relationships ensuring clear communication to maintain consistency and clarity of the operational picture.
- Coordinating the fault line operation to ensure effective response by engineering teams to faults raised.

- Previous working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and regulatory and statutory compliance (e.g. electrical, confined spaces, hot works, etc.)
- Working knowledge of all aspects of engineering relating to the operation of an airport environment.
- Strong understanding of budgets and financial frameworks.
- Strong understanding and proven experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
