Engineering Team Lead

MCS Group is working exclusively with a leading UK food manufacturing company in County Down to recruit an Engineering Team Lead for their state-of-the-art facility. This senior role offers an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to take on real leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced, innovative FMCG environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager to oversee a team of multi-skilled engineers working continental shifts. You will be tasked with ensuring maximum equipment uptime by prioritising maintenance support, driving proactive preventative maintenance strategies, and implementing swift fault resolution. You will lead and mentor your team—including apprentices—ensuring work is completed to the highest standards and in compliance with all documentation and logs.

A critical part of the role involves overseeing preventative maintenance schedules via CMMS systems, responding to production line breakdowns efficiently, and collaborating with production and process improvement teams to boost overall site performance. You will apply problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis, 5 Whys, and 5S to support continuous improvement initiatives.

To excel in this position, you will need a strong technical background with an engineering apprenticeship and HNC/HND or equivalent, recent leadership experience in manufacturing, and excellent communication skills. Electro-mechanical and PLC troubleshooting expertise is essential, while experience in food processing or FMCG environments is highly advantageous.
