Environmental Analyst

 

Description:

NextEnergy Group is seeking an Environmental Analyst (Solar) to join WiseEnergy’s Commercial team based in London. This full-time, permanent role plays a critical part in ensuring environmental compliance and effective land management across solar assets. The successful candidate will manage environmental obligations, Landscape & Ecology Management Plans (LEMP), and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance with Local Planning Authorities (LPA) and internal ESG goals. The role requires on-site work in the London Mayfair office 2–3 days a week, with hybrid flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage LEMP obligations across solar assets and maintain associated compliance databases.

  • Schedule and monitor ecological site surveys; extract actionable insights and coordinate their implementation.

  • Provide advice and support for amendments to planning conditions, including liaising with planning consultants.

  • Oversee compliance with LEMP by working with O&M teams, landscaping contractors, ecologists, and landowners.

  • Manage performance and quality of contractors and oversee budget allocations and invoice approvals.

  • Collaborate with in-house Site Managers to address any LEMP non-compliance and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Regularly report compliance status and suggest improvements to clients.

  • Manage biodiversity budgets and develop long-term landowner and grazier relationships for environmental plan execution.

  • Address any planning-related notices from LPAs, collaborating with consultants and internal teams.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and ability to manage a busy workload.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numeracy skills with attention to detail.

  • Clear and confident communication skills—both verbal and written—in English.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and negotiate with stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • High level of intellectual curiosity and adaptability to take on varied challenges.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental planning or land management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related field.

  • Familiarity with environmental planning regulations and land management practices.

  • Proficiency in English (additional fluency in Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese is a plus).

  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
