Description:

Mammoet, a global leader in engineered heavy lifting and transport solutions, is hiring a full-time Mechanic for its Staffordshire depot in Hixon, UK. The successful candidate will become an integral part of a skilled maintenance team, supporting complex lifting and logistics operations across multiple sectors including infrastructure, nuclear, renewables, and energy.

As a Mechanic at Mammoet, you’ll be working on an extensive fleet of equipment including cranes, trailers, trucks, plant machinery, and Scheuerle SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters). This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for individuals who possess solid mechanical knowledge and a passion for excellence in machine performance and safety.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance tasks to ensure that all mechanical equipment meets operational and safety standards

  • Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and electrical systems

  • Prepare heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) for MOT inspections and ensure they meet all legal roadworthiness requirements

  • Support inspection, renovation, and modification projects for various types of equipment

  • Assist with new equipment build-outs and upgrades when necessary

  • Occasionally respond to call-outs for on-site repairs or emergency maintenance

  • Maintain accurate service records and follow internal protocols for quality assurance and safety compliance


Key Requirements:

  • Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering

  • Familiarity with rigging operations and diverse power transmission systems

  • Basic to intermediate English proficiency, both written and spoken

  • Safety training and certifications in line with Mammoet standards

  • Flexibility to travel for field repairs and on-site equipment support

  • Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position

  • On-site role in Hixon, Staffordshire, with call-out travel as required
