Esol Tutor

Description:

Passpel is actively seeking experienced ESOL Tutors to deliver face-to-face English lessons in public libraries across Suffolk. This role is part of a vital community initiative, providing essential English language support to refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants, helping them integrate successfully into their local communities.

As an ESOL Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering structured, interactive, and culturally sensitive English lessons, focusing on practical language skills to support learners in daily life, employment, and community participation.

You will work directly with small groups of learners and have the flexibility to schedule lessons within library operating hours.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Deliver high-quality ESOL lessons to groups of 1-6 learners or 6-12 learners per session
✅ Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills tailored to learners' needs
✅ Conduct 8 hours of lessons per week per group, with flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
✅ Adapt teaching methods to cater to diverse cultural backgrounds and varying language abilities
✅ Track learner progress and actively engage learners in their language development journey

Required Skills & Experience:

✔ Recognised ESOL qualification (e.g., CELTA, CertTESOL or equivalent) OR significant experience teaching ESOL learners
✔ Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering ESOL lessons to learners from a variety of language and cultural backgrounds
✔ Strong ability to teach functional English that supports learners in daily life, employment, and community engagement
✔ Available to commit at least 8 hours per week to deliver lessons

Compensation:
💷 Competitive hourly rate (to be discussed based on experience and group size)
