Description:
Castleton Commodities International is hiring a European Power Scheduler for its London office. The role supports daily energy scheduling activities across power and natural gas, including position reconciliation, interactions with power TSOs, and the development of ad hoc operational reports and processes. It provides direct exposure to physical energy trading operations in a dynamic environment where nomination accuracy, deadline discipline, and sound judgment are critical.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely balancing and nomination activity across CCI's European power market areas.
- Coordinate with trading functions to reconcile positions and ensure nominated volumes are aligned to traded activity before gate closure.
- Interact with power TSOs, counterparties, and relevant market operators to resolve unmatched, rejected, or amended nominations.
- Assist in setting up markets, products, or scheduling systems for European power and related operational processes.
- Nominate against interconnector transmission rights and track capacity auction results, transfers, and curtailment impacts.
- Assist in reconciling trading activities and support imbalance, settlement and operational queries.
- Develop ad-hoc operational analysis reports and contribute to improvements in desk processes and controls.
- Lead or support change management projects to handle market changes or onboard new markets, where appropriate.
- Provide timely, accurate scheduling support for CCI’s European gas positions, including nominations, confirmations, and resolution of operational exceptions, as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a numerate or technical discipline — Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, or similar; candidates from other backgrounds with strong quantitative ability will also be considered.
- At least two years' experience in power scheduling; knowledge of interconnector nominations is a plus.
- Understanding of European power markets, day-ahead scheduling, nominations, and imbalance exposure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with trading desks, operations teams, counterparties, and market operators.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and willingness to work occasional weekends on a rotational basis.
- Experience with Continental market coupling, cross-border capacity allocation and TSO nomination platforms.
- Prior use of an ETRM or scheduling system in a live operational setting.
- SQL, Python or Power BI capability for reconciliation, automation and reporting.
- Proficiency in an additional European language is advantageous.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-intensity environment with timely responsiveness and flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when required.
