Expert Analyst

 

Description:

We are seeking a fisheries and maritime domain expert analyst to join an innovative and growing organisation working to protect the marine environment. This opportunity comes at an exciting time and the role will play a pivotal part in supporting and working on a variety of projects from around the world.

You will use your knowledge of fisheries operations/management and analytical skills to support with the production of intelligence reports and risk assessments using many information sources, including tracking and remote sensing data. In addition, you will be responsible for providing patrol recommendations, case notes, as well as support for academic studies related to maritime domain awareness.

The role requires you to conduct desk-based or on the ground research to help partners identify risks and solutions related to diverse problem areas such as policy recommendations, appropriate compliance technologies and supply chain due diligence processes. It is key that you are a great communicator with the ability to engage with different people from multiple backgrounds, to understand and respond to their needs in rapidly changing organisation environment.

The Expert Analyst Intelligence & Compliance role is:

Fully remote based in UK; with limited domestic and international travel (dependant on projects)

Starting salary range: £34k to £40k dependant on relevant skills and experience

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document requirements to enhance fisheries compliance and increase sustainability to external stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, funding partners and non-governmental organisation (NGOs)
  • Create reports and presentations based on analyses, research, and present findings and recommendations as needed in matters of maritime, fisheries law and governance
  • Work closely to develop and maintain working relationships with decision makers, government officials, national and international institutions, as well as relevant industry groups and NGOs in the field to enhance delivery of analytic tools, information, data and other services
  • Provide support in daily monitoring and analysis of selected global maritime areas and fleets of interest to detect and document suspicious activities
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and conduct analysis of data sources, methods, or tools that build the team’s ability to enhance fisheries and maritime compliance and assist in the enhancement of technology requirements
  • Advise government and seafood buyers on tools and methods to enhance fisheries compliance and on specific cases and recommend follow-up actions
  • Assist and support with project initiatives and business development activities as and when required
  • Other duties as assigned, including public speaking and attendance at external workshops and meetings
  • Moderate domestic and international travel may be required with the possibility of participating in fieldwork when COVID-19 and safety restrictions permit
