Contribute to Sustainable Agriculture – Join Genus PLC as a Farm Research Officer
Genus PLC is hiring a Farm Research Officer for its Promar International division in East Anglia, offering a flexible hybrid work model. This full-time, permanent position is ideal for professionals passionate about agricultural data, sustainable practices, and working closely with UK farmers to shape the future of British agriculture.
You’ll split your time between farm visits, home-based analysis, and occasional meetings in Newmarket, where you'll collaborate with a team committed to agricultural innovation.
Data Collection: Gather farm business account information in various formats (e.g., paper invoices, bank statements, farm software)
Financial Analysis: Compile and produce a fully balanced set of electronic farm accounts on an annual basis
Farmer Interviews: Conduct detailed interviews with farmers to collect business, land management, and agri-environmental data (e.g., water use, sustainability practices)
Regional Coverage: Travel regularly across the region to visit farms and complete research activities
Mentorship & Support: Depending on experience, support the team by mentoring new staff, helping with sample organization, recruiting farms, and generating sector reports
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
Strong knowledge of British agriculture and rural land use practices
Understanding of farm business management principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical mindset and comfort working with numerical data
Full and valid UK driving license required for farm visits
