Description:
Babcock International is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to play a critical role in supporting the Business Facing Finance Director and team. This position offers a 12-month fixed-term contract with hybrid work arrangements, requiring regular travel to Portsmouth, Lyneham, or Bovington.
The Finance Manager will act as the link between Finance and Contract Operations, ensuring a strong focus on budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control. This role is integral to enhancing financial oversight and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee contract/site monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans.
- Ensure financial controls and cost drivers from production operations are properly understood and communicated.
Business Partnering & Strategy
- Collaborate closely with operations and senior management teams, acting as a trusted financial advisor.
- Provide clear and concise financial insights, holding operational teams accountable for their forecasts and budgets.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Identify and implement opportunities for financial process improvements.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, contract accounting standards, and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
Essential Experience:
- Strong ability to analyze and present financial data clearly and effectively.
- Proven track record in pricing, long-term contract accounting, and financial planning.
- Experience in business partnering, holding operational teams accountable for budgets and forecasts.
- Ability to meet and exceed financial deadlines and targets.
- Experience in the Defence sector or a similar industry is beneficial but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS, or equivalent).
Security Clearance Requirement:
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
