Description:

Trigon Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Finance Manager to join a respected, values-led, and community-focused organisation that has been making a positive impact across Cumbria, Lancashire, and Teesside for over 30 years. This pivotal role will involve leading financial operations for two organisational entities, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing strategic insight, and managing a high-performing finance team. As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Finance Manager will contribute to long-term organisational sustainability, financial governance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Partner with the Director of Finance & Business to drive long-term financial planning, assess financial risks, and integrate sustainability into financial models.

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, lead statutory accounts preparation, oversee audits in compliance with charity SORP, and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning: Manage the annual budgeting process, conduct quarterly reforecasting, analyse variances, and develop financial plans for ongoing and new projects.

  • Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture, ensuring goals align with organisational strategy, and encouraging continuous professional development.

  • Operations & Controls: Maintain strong financial controls, oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations while optimising systems and processes.

  • External Relationships: Serve as the main contact for auditors, banks, suppliers, and regulators, and represent finance in senior-level meetings.

Person Specification:

  • Essential:

    • At least 3 years’ senior finance leadership experience

    • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams

    • Strong strategic thinking with proven process improvement track record

    • Excellent communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders

    • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software (Sage 50 preferred)

  • Desirable:

    • Fully qualified or studying towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA

    • Experience with multi-entity or group finance management

    • Understanding of charity accounting and SORP regulations

Benefits:
