Finance Manager

 

Description:

To work with Trustees and the CEO to ensure efficient and effective financial management, including setting and monitoring budgets, overseeing day-to-day financial management, and providing advice and guidance and financial reports, to inform the development and delivery of our strategy and business plan.

To provide leadership to the finance and resources team through clear communication of responsibilities, guidance when required, training and development where appropriate and proactive performance management.

Finance Manager Summary

Our Charity has experienced a period of growth and systems change, which will continue under our new strategy and business plan. We are seeking an experienced and professional Finance and Resources Manager to join our team. This position will play a key role in the organisation as we continue to grow our impact. The role will also help with the leadership of our funding strategy and long-term financial security. The Finance and Resources Manager will collaborate with the Chief Executive and Treasurer to analyse department finances and develop budgets that will ensure that RWT can successfully deliver its strategy and vision of increasing the abundance and diversity of wildlife, inspiring people to act for nature and helping to reduce the impact of climate change.

Finance Manager responsibilities

To oversee finance operations, financial planning, and analyses, and making improvements to procedures and controls. Lead on advising and training Trust staff and volunteers on financial procedures and standards.

Ensure the effective running of the day-to-day financial operations in line with financial procedures and be the main point of contact for the provision of financial information to support grant applications and reporting to funders.

Manage relationships with bankers, auditors, and payroll.

Examine financial and legal documents to verify accuracy and adherence to financial regulations and acceptable financial principles.

Lead the team and develop or recommend solutions for problems or situations.

Budgeting:

  • Compile financial information to allow timely and efficient preparation and monitoring of budgets and perform a variety of financial analyses to determine the present and forecasted financial health of the trust.
  • Collaborate on development and execution of funding strategies, with a particular focus on unrestricted income.

Management Accounts:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts on an accrual basis, highlighting variances with budget, for review by the CEO and managers.
  • Provide other financial reports, analyses and updates to the CEO, Finance Committee and Council working with the Treasurer to ensure good financial governance and management of Trust resources.

Payroll:

  • Prepare payroll information for the outsourced payroll provider.
  • Process staff salary payments.
  • Review pension administrative arrangements.
