Financial Accountant

Description:

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and qualified Financial Accountant to join a prestigious group company with global brands. Based primarily in Watford, this role involves supporting sales, operations, and finance teams, while also requiring some travel to London, Southend, and occasionally within the UK and Europe.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified CA, CIMA, or ACCA professional who is ready to apply their management and financial accounting expertise within a dynamic and fast-paced commercial environment. You’ll play a key role in financial reporting, analysis, and business support, helping drive operational and strategic decisions.

Main Responsibilities:

Management Accounting:
✅ Collaborate closely with sales, sourcing, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
✅ Prepare detailed sales and margin reports, as well as sales forecasts to assist decision-making.
✅ Maintain product costing sheets to ensure accurate product pricing and cost controls.
✅ Prepare and maintain the weekly purchase order log to track and manage procurement effectively.
✅ Review periodical stock reports, ensuring optimal stock management and efficient warehouse utilization.

Financial Accounting:
✅ Assist the Financial Controller in preparing monthly and quarterly financial accounts.
✅ Ensure compliance with banking requirements and brand owner reporting obligations.
✅ Perform variance analysis of operating expenses, identifying discrepancies and working closely with functional managers to implement corrective actions.
✅ Prepare weekly and quarterly cash flow statements, offering clear visibility into the company’s liquidity and funding requirements.

Person Specifications:

✔️ Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or financial accounting role, preferably within a commercial organization or a chartered accountancy firm.
✔️ Proficiency in SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting software.
✔️ Experience using ERP systems along with advanced Excel skills (strong proficiency with spreadsheets, pivot tables, and financial modelling).
✔️ Proven ability to work under strict deadlines, with strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
✔️ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-financial managers across departments.
✔️ Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required to support business operations.
