Financial Controller

Description:

NEXT is seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to lead key financial operations for their global business. This individual will manage financial accounting, reporting, and risk compliance for NEXT's 600+ stores and 90+ websites worldwide, ensuring data accuracy and financial integrity across all systems.

You will be overseeing a team of 34+ members, managing significant customer payment options and receivables (c£5bn), gift cards, and retail stock. The role also includes managing external relationships, overseeing financial controls, and supporting business initiatives to drive efficiency, change, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all financial operations, including financial accounting, reporting, and risk management for the NEXT business and Total Platform partners.

• Manage customer payment options and receivables, gift cards, and retail stock across global operations.

• Provide strategic decision support and analysis for the business, including performance metrics and financial controls.

• Manage a team of 34+ individuals, focusing on their development and ensuring high standards of service and operational efficiency.

• Drive innovation and lead change initiatives within the finance function.

• Work closely with various internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure smooth operations and risk management.

• Lead discussions and negotiations across all levels of the business and externally.

What We Are Looking For:

• Qualified accountant with extensive experience in a finance leadership role, ideally in a multichannel retail environment.

• Proven experience managing and motivating large teams, with a focus on delivering results at pace.

• Strong commercial aptitude, attention to detail, and strategic thinking capabilities.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Strong control skills and a sound understanding of systems processes, business risks, and internal controls.

• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across different levels of the business and externally.
