Description:

Alt Fire is seeking Fire Engineers of all levels to join their innovative, supportive, and forward-thinking consultancy practice based in Manchester or London. This is a hybrid role offering a flexible work environment that empowers professionals to thrive, learn, and contribute to the built environment’s safety and sustainability.

The ideal candidates will work on a range of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and public sector projects, collaborating with design teams, clients, and approval authorities while developing comprehensive and pragmatic fire strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fire strategies for new and existing buildings in compliance with regulations and standards

  • Conduct design reviews and formulate both code-compliant and performance-based fire solutions

  • Perform site inspections and generate detailed technical reports

  • Liaise directly with clients, design teams, and authorities to deliver tailored engineering services

  • Provide internal support and mentorship to fellow engineers across the team

  • Participate in business growth initiatives and contribute beyond project work

  • Maintain long-term client relationships by delivering timely, high-quality services


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in Fire Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Familiarity with UK codes and standards (e.g., Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999, BS 7974)

  • Interest or experience in performance-based fire engineering methods: CFD, evacuation modeling, fire dynamics, etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise report writing

  • Passion for continued professional development and commitment to Chartered status (Chartered or working towards it)

  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for technical excellence and long-term client engagement
