Front-end Developer

Description:

As our next Front-End Developer, you’ll design & code usable and accessible websites to web development standards using complex scripting technologies. You’ll join a likeminded team in our Leeds based Digital Services function. You may have seen this role advertised as a Web Developer, Web Designer, Web Editor, Web Content Designer, Front-End Web Designer or similar within other organisations.

What You'll Do

• Developing engaging innovative new features for our websites
• Taking design mock-ups and converting them into visually appealing web experiences
• Ensuring the technical feasibility of UX/UI designs
• Writing front-end code that performs great and adheres to team standards and industry best practice
• Reviewing other developers work to ensure quality standards are maintained

Skills Required

Essential

• Proficiency in hand-coding HTML5 and CSS3 and writing vanilla JavaScript
• Knowledge of Responsive Web Design with a proven track record of building engaging websites
• Ability to write well-structured, maintainable front-end code
• Knowledge of web standards and web accessibility requirements
• Understanding of SEO best practices

Desirable

• Knowledge of any of these is a bonus: jQuery, Handlebars, SASS, GIT, JS frameworks, JavaScript ES5+, CMS tools, OutSystems, LifeRay CMS, LifeRay DXP
