Future Projects Engineering Placement

We are the Airbus Commercial Future Projects Office. Our job is to explore all of the aircraft and technology options that are available for the future of commercial aviation. We don’t just think about technical problems, we integrate them with our understanding of business drivers which enables us to push our aircraft to new and sustainable solutions.

What you will be doing:

For this placement, you would be working within either the Wing & Landing Gear Team or the Overall Aircraft Design Team.

You will work on the early design stages of projects and cover a number of disciplines including geometrical definition, high and low speed aerodynamics, performance, weight estimation, operability and cost in order to deliver an optimised solution for either wing or complete aircraft problems.

To achieve this you will need to work with the rest of the Future Projects team and possibly other engineering teams within the business so communication skills will be key.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of the preliminary phase of aircraft design and its wider business impact.

You will also have the chance to take part in initiatives outside your day to day tasks that will provide opportunities for personal development. Examples of these could be: attending careers fairs, organising site tours and even running classes in schools.

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only . Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
