The role of The General Manager Children Services will lead the development and implementation of strategic priorities including the School Readiness program with an emphasis on creating environments that enable children and young people to flourish and support them to grow in body, mind and spirit.

The General Manager Children Services is responsible for providing leadership to the Children Services team across WA. As a member of the Senior Leadership Group this role will work collaboratively with Executive and Senior Leaders to drive the strategic plan. The General Manager Children Services is responsible for the financial performance and standard of operations across Children's’ Services and will hold key responsibilities for child protection and safeguarding in collaboration with the Safeguarding Lead and Child Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities will be to;

  • Lead the implementation of strategic plans through the development of operational plans within Children Services.
  • Create a positive culture through effective leadership and communication.
  • Lead the effective change management and implementation of new polices, procedures, strategies and business operations.
  • Provide reports relating to industry and regulatory changes, compliance and continuous improvement activities within Children Services.
  • Lead the response to Children Services related reviews, investigations, budget submissions and inquiries at a State and national level.
  • Build capacity by creating a culture of excellence that leads to a professional learning community with a shared focus on early years education, school readiness and pro social behaviours.
  • Develop, embed and review a coaching and mentoring culture.
  • Ensure all Children Services meet and exceed compliance and reporting requirements across all relevant state and national reporting and legislative bodies.
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations including reporting and financial management are met.
  • Develop and maintain strategic networks and partnerships with relevant organisations.
  • Oversee and manage the operations of the Children Service’s portfolio.
  • Provide evaluation reports relating to services and programs to demonstrate impact.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding Children and Young People.
