Description:
We are working with SME Ground Investigation Company who are looking for a high calibre Geotechnical/ Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their team in Glasgow.
This is a full time, permanent opportunity and you will be joining a knowledgeable and talented team. You will be expected to assist in the delivery of geotechnical projects and will therefore be able to demonstrate technical, commercial and site management capabilities
Responsibilities
- Assisting with site investigation work across the UK as directed by the MD or other project staff.
- Undertaking preliminary risk assessments (phase 1 desk studies) and ( Phase 2 ) intrusive ground investigations.
- Soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including laboratory scheduling, gas monitoring , rock testing.
- Design , tender , instruct and supervise GI subbies for site works , testing and specialist reporting Collating data and report writing.
- All project work to be carried out with due diligence, & completed within the given cost budgets and time scales agreed.
- Good communication is required to inform/liaise with other project staff and sometimes the client periodically with updates & any issues raised.
The successful applicant
- Previous site work an advantage (including trial pitting and drilling supervision).
- BSc degree level qualified in geology/civil engineering or a related environmental subject - essential.
- MSc in a geotechnical/civil engineering or environmental discipline - desirable.
- Good knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK.
- Potential to lead small geotechnical team and to assist MD in business growth - so client facing , communication interaction essential.
- Ability to lead works with minimal supervision , and to supervise junior members of the team.
- Predominantly in Scotland, with working away in UK and Ireland required for short durations to supervise GI Contracts as required.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
