Description:

HSBC, one of the world’s largest and most respected banking and financial services organizations, is seeking an experienced and visionary EMEA Head of Global Custody to lead the strategic and operational delivery of its Global Custody business across the EMEA region.

Operating within Market Securities Services (MSS), this role plays a pivotal part in the evolution and transformation of HSBC’s custody offering—embedding a value-stream model that drives innovation, efficiency, and client satisfaction across the region.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of product delivery, client engagement, financial management, and team leadership, while ensuring the Global Custody service remains at the forefront of industry standards and technological advancement.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the EMEA Global Custody team, driving growth, innovation, and service excellence.

  • Partner with the Global Head of Product Delivery and Global Design Leads to execute HSBC’s Securities Services strategy.

  • Define and implement the regional Global Custody strategy in line with HSBC’s global objectives and regulatory framework.

  • Lead the transition toward Value Stream Delivery, contributing to future state strategies, service models, and commercial frameworks.

  • Champion a forward-thinking culture, promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across teams.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Own and manage the EMEA Global Custody P&L, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.

  • Oversee resource allocation, budget planning, and financial management, optimising operational efficiency.

  • Ensure smooth execution of all custody operations, maintaining the highest standards of compliance, accuracy, and risk management.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Act as a senior escalation point for major custody clients and stakeholders across EMEA.

  • Build strong, strategic relationships with Public Sector and Asset Owner Clients to support business expansion.

  • Drive client-centric improvements based on data, insights, and industry best practices.

  • Lead efforts to enhance client satisfaction, retention, and service innovation.

Performance & Governance

  • Oversee the design and reporting of executive MIS and KPIs, enabling informed decision-making at the highest level.

  • Ensure compliance with HSBC’s Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and Operational Risk Management Frameworks.

  • Lead change management initiatives to improve governance, risk control, and process optimisation across custody operations.


Key Requirements:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Deep understanding of Global Custody and Securities Services, including product design, operations, and value chain management.

  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams across multiple geographies and cultures.

  • Strong track record of managing P&L, driving business performance, and executing strategic transformation.

  • Experience working with institutional clients, particularly Public Sector and Asset Owner segments.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills at a senior executive level.

  • Ability to influence strategic direction through analytical, innovative, and commercially astute decision-making.

Desirable:

  • Strong understanding of digital innovation, custody technology, and industry trends in securities services.

  • Demonstrated success in embedding agile, client-first operating models in large financial organisations.
