Graduate Health Physicist

Description:

L2 Business Consulting Limited is seeking a Graduate Health Physicist / Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser to join their expanding consultancy team. Based in North–East England, L2 is a technical consultancy firm providing radiation protection services to clients across sectors such as nuclear, oil and gas, manufacturing, FMCG, veterinary, and academia. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and full support to gain formal accreditation as a Radiation Protection Adviser via RPA2000.

The selected candidate will undergo a structured training programme, receive funding for formal postgraduate study, and gain practical exposure by working directly with clients across the UK. They will contribute to a broad range of technical assignments, including site inspections, radiation risk assessments, radiological surveys, dosimetry reviews, environmental permit applications, and transport of radioactive materials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the provision of radiation protection consultancy across multiple sectors

• Undertake technical tasks such as radiation risk assessments, predicted dose calculations, and radiological design analysis

• Conduct site visits and prepare detailed technical reports

• Assist in producing client documentation, procedures, and reviewing dosimetry and survey results

• Receive formal and on-the-job training toward achieving professional recognition via SRP (Society of Radiological Protection) and RPA2000 accreditation

• Learn to advise on Environmental Permitting (sealed/unsealed sources, radioactive waste), RSA applications, and Transport of Radioactive Materials

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A degree in a relevant science discipline (Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Environmental Science)

• Must have permanent right to live and work in the UK (e.g., British citizenship, ILR, or EU Settled Status)

• A valid UK driving licence is essential

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and video communication platforms

• Eligibility for Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
