Graduate Trainee

 

Description:

A graduate-focused role providing substantial, practical, and varied academic library-based experience, supporting the development of Library and Information professionals. The trainee will work primarily in the Technical Services team, focusing on Acquisitions and Copy and Print areas, with opportunities to explore other library functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in Technical Services responding to areas of greatest need.

  • Gain experience in different library areas to broaden knowledge.

  • Participate in library development events, training, and cross-library project groups.

  • Engage with students and contribute to library promotional events.

  • Work towards CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) Certification (ACLIP).

  • Support student engagement initiatives via Library Staff Development and Engagement Groups.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate level education.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Flexibility and capability to perform detail-oriented, process-driven tasks.

  • Technical expertise and strong IT skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to reliability.

Additional Requirements:

  • Full-time role, primarily based in the Library’s Technical Services area.

  • Fixed-term contract up to 24 months.

  • Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not guaranteed).
