Creative Services provide creative, design and production services to the whole of UKRI, including all the Councils and other organisations associated with them. Our aim is to deliver an outstanding standard of creative design, account management and print production services, offering integrated services across print and digital media.

The Senior Designer is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the creative output. This is a demanding role, with accountability for online and offline design output. The role will require you to develop your own designs as well collaborating with the team’s overall creative development.

You will ensure that the creative solutions are aligned to client expectations and delivered to the highest standard, on time and on budget. You will work closely with our Head of Design, design, production and accounts management teams for internal and external clients, and fully understanding our clients’ needs.

You will use your experience and knowledge to continuously review processes and practices, with a view to enhance creativity, improve efficiency and overall workflow throughout the studio.

Responsibilities

  • Take a brief from concept through to delivery, whether it is for print, online or display, and deliver high quality creative design solutions
  • Ensuring your work is on brief and exceeds clients’ expectations in all stages of the design process
  • Develop creative solutions on time and within budget, and with a very sharp eye for detail
  • Show commercial accountability through accurate scoping of work
  • Support the creative team with considered, informed and inspiring feedback, with the aim to improve quality results
  • Influence design-led thinking and culture across the team and organisation
  • Maintain a client-centred, collaborative, can-do approach and working attitude.
  • A strong portfolio showing creativity and high-quality design solutions
  • Demonstrable and well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of the creative and design process for print and digital media
  • Ability to write a solid rationale for your ideas and presenting your own work
  • Excellent skills in Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effecs
  • Cross-media design abilities and knowledge (print, digital and display), including animation and video editing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with Macs and Mac software.
