Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Head of Broking to lead the broking function at a well-established insurance brokerage. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the efficient placement of insurance risks, maintaining strong insurer relationships, and providing high-quality technical and advisory support to client-facing teams. The position plays a critical role in driving commercial and operational excellence across all classes of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the broking strategy in line with business growth objectives.
- Contribute to the overall business strategy as part of the senior leadership team.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across broking.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the broking teams to ensure high performance and collaboration.
- Provide technical training, guidance, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of excellence, compliance, and accountability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers and underwriters.
- Negotiate favourable terms, coverage, and pricing for client placements.
- Ensure market knowledge is current and shared across the business.
- Support complex and high-value placements, including programme design and structuring.
- Ensure all broking documentation and placement files meet regulatory and company standards.
- Ensure broking practices meet FCA regulations and internal compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the development of risk management and governance frameworks.
- Oversee timely and accurate MI reporting and broking audits.
- Partner with client directors and account executives to support new business and renewals.
- Deliver cost-effective broking solutions that enhance client value and broker margin.
Candidate Criteria
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial insurance.
- Strong background in UK and international commercial insurance markets.
- Proven leadership and management experience in broking or placement.
- CII qualification (DipCII or ACII)
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Technical expertise across a broad range of commercial lines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
