Birmingham City University (BCU) is seeking a Head of Cultural Collections and Archive to lead the university’s special collections and archives. This pivotal role will provide strategic oversight of BCU’s Cultural Collections and Archives team, shaping and enhancing the university’s collections while ensuring their accessibility to both the university community and the wider public.

Key Responsibilities:

• As a senior leadership team member, contribute to the development of Library & Learning Resources (L&LR) services, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with the diverse needs of the university.
• Plan and prioritize initiatives to make special collections more discoverable, including digitisation efforts to enhance accessibility for research, teaching, and public engagement.
• Align collections with the university curriculum, supporting faculty and students in research and academic pursuits.
• Maximise the use of collections through outreach, public engagement, and collaborations within the Birmingham community and beyond.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Extensive leadership experience in library and archive services, with a focus on cultural collections and special archives.
• Demonstrated ability to strategically manage and develop collections and archives, ensuring accessibility for a diverse community.
• Experience in digitisation and making resources accessible in both physical and digital formats.
• Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills.
