Description:
An opportunity to join the Engineering & Maintenance senior leadership team reporting to the Chief Engineer for Sellafield Ltd. This role provides internal independent regulation and oversight of the Engineering & Maintenance department in the areas of nuclear, radiological, environmental, industrial safety and security.
Principal Accountabilities
- Establish Engineering and Maintenance standards for the organisation, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations, obligations and business needs to support the Sellafield mission.
- Provide oversight and assurance to the Chief Engineer on the suitability and effectiveness of Engineering and Maintenance standards and arrangements and on the performance of the business in delivering the associated outcomes.
- Define an Oversight and Assurance programme, in line with process requirements, which will critically assess the effectiveness of Engineering and Maintenance across the Sellafield Ltd organisation. This programme will assess performance against legal requirements, obligations and business needs. It will also evaluate performance against external best practice.
- Undertake critical evaluation, scrutiny, challenge, advice and oversight of the Engineering and Maintenance function and its ability to deliver effectively and support operational and functional delivery.
- Establish the principles of Engineering Authority for the business and the standards for their application across all applicable management processes.
- Develop an Engineering oversight and assurance capability which can deliver the programme, develop insights and intelligence from outputs and provide effective feedback.
- Use outputs from oversight and assurance activities to provide independent intelligence to the Chief Engineer on performance and effectiveness of the business.
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice and assistance in matters relating to regulations, obligations and external best practice.
- Keep up to date with changes in the external environment which could impact upon obligations or stakeholder needs, taking action as required to mitigate risks to the business.
- Develop and maintain credible and effective working relationships with a range of internal and external customers and stakeholders through a mature approach to reporting and where necessary escalation of advice and insights.
- Represent Engineering & Maintenance to a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of activities to enable the effective delivery of Engineering & Maintenance objectives, including acting as the key point of contact for regulators.
