Job Summary

NHS Resolution is arms length body of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), tasked with providing indemnity to the NHS for the risks involved in delivering healthcare services and to use our unique perspective across the causes of claims to provide insights back to the NHS to help to improve safety and manage risk.

 

NHS Resolution operates a number of indemnity schemes, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, primarily for the handling of liability claims against English NHS Trusts and other commissioners and/or providers of NHS care.

 

The NHS Resolution Claims Management function is entering a phase of transformation and expansion with a vision to deliver a single, integrated claims function, with a supportive organisational structure that avoids duplication of effort and allows teams to develop their skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leadership Team within the Claims Management directorate at NHS Resolution as Head of Performance and Improvementon a permanent contract basis.

 

This role will report to the Deputy Director of Claims Management. The post holder will demonstrate experience of operating at a senior management / head of service level along with significant experience of the claims and risk environment including procurement and managing supply chains.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable for the safe and consistent delivery of a quality service from the Claims Management service and its supply chain by:

  • Maintaining an assurance and compliance framework that delivers effective governance across the service including effective contract, risk and issue management
  • Coordinating the services responses to incidents and other feedback
  • Providing effective leadership of continuous service improvement activity
  • Supporting and leading change initiatives e.g. core systems programme.
