Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The Group is a complex and ambitious business handling a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres annually, sourced from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties.
The Group operates eight modern dairy manufacturing sites on a cross-border basis and supplies a broad range of products to blue-chip customers domestically and internationally. They export approximately 240 different dairy products to over 100 countries worldwide.
Their Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) runs a cutting-edge Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility, delivering high-quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef, and sheep farmers across Ireland.
Lakeland Dairies is inviting applications for a Health & Safety Business Partner to be based at their Artigarvan site. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies and procedures specifically tailored for dairy powder processing operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, fostering a strong safety culture, and minimizing risks associated with dairy powder processing.
Policy Development and Implementation:
Create, update, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures that address the specific risks of dairy powder processing operations.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
Regularly conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards involving machinery, chemical handling, and powder processing.
Inspections and Audits:
Carry out scheduled inspections and safety audits of the facility to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and company standards.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver engaging and effective health and safety training programs for all employees, including new hires and contractors.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to establish root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Emergency Preparedness:
Prepare, maintain, and regularly review emergency response plans covering scenarios such as fires, chemical spills, and other site-specific emergencies.
Regulatory Compliance:
Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance within the dairy processing environment.
Continuous Improvement:
Champion a culture of proactive safety management by encouraging employee involvement and suggesting ongoing improvements to health and safety standards.
Holds a third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Possesses at least 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within food manufacturing or similar sectors.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
Skilled in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
Experienced in designing and delivering impactful training sessions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with safety management software.
NESBOSH or IOSH certification and an understanding of food manufacturing processes are desirable assets.
