Healthcare Assistant

Marie Curie UK, the nation’s leading end-of-life charity, is recruiting for multiple Healthcare Assistant positions within its Cornwall Hospice Care @ Home service. These part-time permanent roles are remote and community-based, designed to offer high-quality palliative care to individuals in their own homes.

The successful candidates will work as part of the night-time team, operating alone during waking night shifts from 22:00 to 07:00, spending each shift with one patient in their home. You will be responsible for providing holistic, person-centred care based on individualised care plans, including monitoring vitals, supporting with hygiene, nutrition, hydration, comfort, and escalating issues appropriately to senior staff.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering compassionate, person-centred care during waking night shifts.

• Working independently and responding dynamically to patient needs and changes in condition.

• Ensuring patients receive dignified end-of-life care in line with Marie Curie values.

• Participating in risk assessments and care evaluations as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

• Communicating sensitively with patients and their families in a professional and empathetic manner.

Requirements:

• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)

• At least 6 months’ current experience in a healthcare or social care setting

• Valid driving licence with access to a vehicle (including business insurance)

• Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care

• Ability to plan work independently and manage time effectively

• Skilled in risk assessment and care plan evaluations
