Hip-hop Dance Teacher

Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, a respected multi-discipline arts organization based in the Northeast Bronx, is seeking a passionate and experienced Hip-Hop Dance Teacher to join its Dance Program. This role is designed for an educator who is deeply committed to youth arts education, combining technical expertise in hip-hop with the ability to inspire and nurture young dancers in a structured yet creative environment.

The program runs from October through May for approximately 25–28 weeks, with classes scheduled on Saturdays (10:00–11:00 AM and 11:15 AM–12:15 PM) for children ages 6–11 years old. The year culminates in an annual recital performance, where students showcase their progress and creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, age-appropriate hip-hop classes each Saturday to two groups (ages 6–8 and 7–11).

• Design structured lesson plans that align with the Dance Department’s goals and foster both technical skill and creativity.

• Provide nurturing, supportive, and empowering instruction while maintaining high classroom management standards.

• Choreograph dynamic student routines for the annual recital and prepare dancers for live performance.

• Submit bi-annual student progress reports to track growth and development.

• Attend monthly faculty meetings and individual planning sessions with Dance Department Directors.

• Participate in selected organizational activities, events, and community engagement opportunities.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching dance to children ages 5–12 in a structured studio environment.

• Demonstrated ability to choreograph for young dancers and lead recital-based classes.

• Skilled at creating fun, rigorous, and exciting class environments that balance discipline with creativity.

• Strong classroom management and the ability to foster respect, collaboration, and enthusiasm among students.

• Patient, nurturing, and team-oriented personality with excellent communication skills.
