House Officer

 

Description:

We need someone who can champion fantastic collections care, as well as support our volunteers and the wider collections team, to ensure a beautifully presented House and a warm welcome for our visitors.

We are open to visitors 7 days a week, so working at weekends and during public holidays will be an expectation. Normally, this will comprise of working either a Saturday or a Sunday, and having a day off during the week.

Because Oxburgh Hall is in a rural area, with no daily public transport, please think about how you’d be able to get here for work, before you apply for this job.

 

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you, if you have:

  • Proven experience of preventive conservation and collections care, including a good understanding of environmental monitoring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to help staff and volunteers to develop and to perform at their best.
  • Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • An organised and methodical approach to work, consistently seeing tasks through to completion and to schedule
  • A good knowledge of customer care, contributing to an excellent visitor experience
  • Good manual dexterity, eye-to-hand skills, the ability to work from ladders and tower scaffolds
  • A good knowledge of Health & Safety and Emergency procedures
  • A keen interest in history and historic properties.
