Description:
The Implementation Specialist, Quality Assurance will manage their own portfolio of journals and collaborate with Publishing teams to ensure their journals are managed in a ‘Production-ready’ way, supporting submit-to-accept workflows and compliance with policies.
Working closely with the Manager, Quality Assurance and the wider GPO Quality Assurance team, the Implementation Specialist will contribute to our quality assurance programme, proactively and reactively addressing quality issues to ensure best-in-class standards across GPO.
Role Responsibilities
Journal Care
- Gather system requirements from publishers, editors, and service providers.
- Set up, maintain, and administer peer review systems.
- Conduct presentations and training sessions for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure quality of article-level activities and act as an escalation point for individual journals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Publishing, Editorial, Production, Technology & Operations staff, as well as external editors, reviewers, authors, and service providers.
- Maintain journal-specific records and documentation.
Quality Assurance
- Collaborate with GPO’s Automation & Analysis team to gather reliable, quality-related insights.
- Proactively monitor quality across journals and investigate issues raised by monitoring processes or stakeholder feedback.
- Work closely with GPO service providers, other Implementation Specialists, and the Workflow Solutions and Training Programmes teams to resolve root causes of quality issues.

- High numeracy skills with great attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving, logical, and analytical skills.
- Proactive mindset; able to lead projects independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Formal project management qualification, such as PRINCE2, is desirable.
