William James Recruitment is partnering with a leading national law firm known for its strength in defendant litigation, to recruit an Industrial Disease Supervisor in Birmingham. This role is designed for experienced legal professionals who are skilled in managing complex disease-related litigation, particularly noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) claims.

As an Industrial Disease Supervisor, you will manage a caseload independently and act as a supervisory lead for a small team of fee earners. You will be expected to guide and support your team with case strategy, ensure performance KPIs are met, and uphold high-quality standards of legal service delivery. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include full file lifecycle management, evidence evaluation, liaising with clients and third parties, and maintaining procedural compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of industrial disease claims, with emphasis on NIHL cases

  • Oversee case strategy from instruction through resolution, including evidence review and negotiations

  • Supervise a team of fee earners, offering mentorship, guidance, and performance reviews

  • Maintain high levels of compliance, client satisfaction, and efficient case throughput

  • Collaborate with colleagues and senior stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency

  • Contribute to team training and development, ensuring legal best practices are followed

  • Utilize case management systems and digital tools for streamlined file handling


Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in industrial disease claims handling (particularly NIHL)

  • In-depth understanding of UK litigation frameworks and procedural laws

  • Capable of leading a team, supervising junior staff, and offering strategic legal input

  • Skilled in interpreting medical/technical evidence and negotiating settlements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and legal drafting skills

  • Familiarity with digital document systems and legal practice management software
