Description:
The role itself is a bit of a mix between a Data Engineer, an Infra Engineer, and a DBA, so somewhat niche! You’ll be encompassing the connection between their platform and their NoSQL DBA infrastructure.
Day to day you’ll be planning and building out their data-related features as well as managing their data sources on both application and infrastructure levels. They’re keen to find someone who is happy to come in with a real vision for scaling out data as they grow.
What experience do I need?
Key to them is finding someone who’s got considerable experience working with NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch and Cassandra, which is what they use. Ideally you’ll also have worked with Kafka at some stage. Proven experience with RDBMS (think MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle etc.) is a must have.
It’s a huge bonus if you’ve experience with POCing different Big Data technologies, as well as rolling out new solutions to the production environment. Preferably you’ll also have exposure to DevOps skills of data related workloads. To emphasise again, they are looking for someone who can work autonomously and as such would like you to be able to see the big picture and be capable of system architecture planning.
Though not so relevant to this role, their software engineering stack looks like this: Ruby, Node, AWS, Linux, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka.
