What Are We Looking For.

We are seeking a talented and proactive individual who can contribute to our growing team by delivering high-quality support across a range of civil engineering and lighting projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think creatively, and have a keen eye for detail.

This role is perfectly suited to someone who enjoys assisting engineers with the preparation of technical drawings and plans, while also providing input on basic design elements. You’ll be working closely with our engineering team to develop infrastructure solutions, produce CAD drawings, and contribute to innovative, practical, and efficient designs as well as drafting up lighting designs for planning.

We are looking for a candidate that understands basic Civil Engineering best practice and standards, demonstrates strong attention to detail and consistently delivers high-quality work and enjoys working collaboratively to support engineers in the production of technical drawings and plans.

The candidate should have good experience with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and is comfortable working from sketches, mark-ups, and specifications.

You will show a willingness to learn, grow professionally, and take on increasing responsibility within the team.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
 

  • BTEC/ HNC in Civil Engineering or related subject.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Consultancy/private sector development background with a desire towards private sector development work.
  • An understanding of UK highway design principles to include lighting design, although this is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of applicable UK design codes, standards and guidance for both private and adoptable highways, for example, Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Local Authority design standards.
  • Knowledge of applicable UK lighting design, standards and guidance for both private and adoptable highway lighting design although this is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Demonstrable relevant experience and general development infrastructure delivering Section 38 and 278 highway drawings for planning, tender and construction purposes for private sector developments.
  • Numerate and software literate with a working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar to create 2D technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of 3D design packages, for example Site 3D or Civils 3D software, although this is not essential as training can be provided.
  • Ability to undertake a supporting role for both minor and major projects including taking independent responsibility for less complex tasks and managing their own workload.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of others using professional judgment to identify and analyse issues and solve problems, research and gather appropriate information to inform or generate strategies or responses to issues or questions, and identify and evaluate different course of actions, to reach clear and informed recommendations, working through more complex tasks with support.
