Description:

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking a skilled Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) team within the Safety and Surveillance group. This is a full-time, permanent role based in London (UK only).

The successful candidate will support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of CPRD’s Azure-based research IT infrastructure, which underpins interventional and observational research services. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven health research service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective operation of CPRD’s research IT systems.

  • Develop and implement IT service improvements aligned with industry best practices.

  • Manage incidents and resolve problems within agreed service levels.

  • Liaise with service providers and partners to ensure business continuity and performance.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation, perform routine IT tasks, and monitor infrastructure and applications.

  • Implement changes according to IT change control procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in computer science, IT, or related discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications (e.g., ITIL Foundation).

  • Hands-on experience maintaining Azure service components to meet business performance targets.

  • Awareness of system configuration, installation, reconfiguration, scripting, resource forecasting, and problem investigation.

  • Ability to implement preventive measures and changes while following standard procedures.

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and comply with Civil Service nationality rules.

  • The role follows a hybrid working model, with minimum on-site attendance of 4–8 days/month.
