SP Engineering Services has been successful in securing regulatory funding under the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) and Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) mechanism, which is a new provision under the RIIO T2 and ED2 settlement.

Reporting to the Future Networks Manager and Project Steering Board where applicable, the Innovation Project Manager will provide a project management (including financial control), programme coordination for the SP Energy Networks delivery team, liaising closely with internal stakeholders and external project partners.

Principally focusing on delivery of the assigned projects which has various delivery programme (from the Ofgem approval), the Innovation Project Manager will also facilitate further proposals of subsequent R&D projects under the SIF, NIA, and Innovation Rollout Mechanism (IRM) regulatory frameworks.

A feature of NIA and SIF project funding is the requirement for knowledge dissemination and external stakeholder engagement. To this end, the role shall provide support to the other team members as well as our Stakeholder Team. What You’ll Be Doing

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Initiate and manage projects, including creation of a project charter.
  • Deputise for the Future Networks Manager where necessary.
  • Direct and motivate the project team (internal and external), ensuring all key stakeholders are included.
  • Prepare Project Plans in conjunction with the inter-departmental technical leads and technical project managers.
  • Prepare all necessary reporting to support the project and departmental reports as required e.g. PMO, Financial.
  • Assist in generation and negotiation of project contracts with third-party companies
  • Manage the budgetary control of the project utilising the project business systems.
  • Manage the risks, including the development of contingency plans.
  • Liaise with and support the various teams to ensure the full requirements of the project and other departmental tasks are achieved.
  • Take responsibility for change control.
  • Agree solution and quality strategy with appropriate members of the team and third-party companies
  • To support and Coordination of the installation of hardware, software, communication systems, Electrical Network equipment, and IT equipment associated with the projects
  • Run retrospectives to ensure lessons learned and continuous improvements are made.
  • Prepare the end of project report in conjunction with the inter-departmental technical project managers
  • Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project.
  • Awareness of the regulatory implications of the innovation, its delivery and benefits
  • Ensure all appropriate Health & Safety procedures are applied at all project locations.
     

What You’ll Bring

  • Project Management experience preferable within an Electrical Network or ICT environment.
  • PRINCE2, APM, SCRUM Master or equivalent qualifications preferred.
  • Significant experience managing in a complex systems environment (including budget).
  • Conscientious and proactive approach to risk management.
  • Highly motivated and positive under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and ensure buy-in.
  • Ability to manage external suppliers to ensure the required service.
  • Ability to manage engineering teams and technical leads.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills across cross functional work streams.
  • Confident to lead/coordinate a team in a technology challenging project with complex interface and multiple stakeholders.
