Description:

The Environment Agency is seeking Intelligence Officers to join the National Environmental Crime Unit, supporting the Water Industry Intelligence Team. This high-profile role focuses on intelligence-led compliance and enforcement in the water industry, which is a strategic priority for the Agency.

The successful candidate will produce and analyse intelligence to inform operational, tactical, and strategic decisions, directly influencing investigations and regulatory action. You will play a pivotal role in shaping intelligence-led compliance, collaborating across teams, and advocating for a joined-up regulatory strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and utilise intelligence products to support decision-making at strategic, tactical, and operational levels

  • Support investigations and provide briefings for investigators and regulatory officers

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify intelligence gaps and assess risks

  • Apply data and information management skills to ensure high-quality outputs

  • Contribute to a culture of intelligence-led compliance and enforcement

  • Maintain an incident role, responding to incidents and providing business continuity support when required

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Experience working in intelligence or a regulatory environment

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and use intelligence systems effectively

  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation

  • Ability to build relationships and influence decision-makers

  • Analytical skills to assess risk and direct resources appropriately
