We are looking for an IT Helpdesk Technician to help manage and troubleshoot any first line enquires or issues that arise internally at our office in Attercliffe, Sheffield. You will be integral in supporting the team in Sheffield by logging all IT incidents and service requests, troubleshooting issues, and managing user accounts. You will have great technical knowledge and customer service skills and will become the go-to person for any software and hardware problems and IT support requests. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop and advance your skills in a growing company headquartered in South Yorkshire.

The Role

For the role of tier 1 IT Helpdesk Technician, you will need knowledge of software and hardware repairs and upgrades, creating new user accounts, Microsoft infrastructure, and a basic understanding of network devices, concepts, and protocols. This role has scope to then process to tier 2 IT support through continued learning and training.

The role will involve the following core responsibilities:

  • Providing first line IT support to colleagues.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • End-user technical support.
  • Logging non-urgent enquires.
  • Escalating matters when necessary.
  • User account management.
  • Detection of potential major incidents and problems.
  • Software installation.

The successful candidate will be a great communicator with colleagues in verbal and written form and must have the following specific traits and knowledge:

  • A passion for IT, computers and technology.
  • Supporting Microsoft infrastructure (desktop operating systems and Office Suite).
  • PC hardware repairs and upgrades and Operating system and software installation/upgrades.
  • Basic understanding of network devices, concepts and protocols.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving common IT issues (laptops, desktops, printers, VOIP phones, etc).
  • Account creation, creating and updating IT/technical documentation.
  • Inventory management.
  • Be able to efficiently learn new topics fast and efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service.
