It Projects Engineer

 

Description:

We are seeking an ambitious, knowledgeable, and motivated IT Projects Engineer to join our dynamic project implementations team. As a Projects Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of IT projects with precision, ensuring the successful, efficient and timely implementation of a wide range of solutions that enhance our clients' operations and elevate their IT capabilities.

The successful candidate will be organised, adept at multi-tasking, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. They will also have previous experience of working in an MSP environment and be competent in a broad variety of technologies with a natural ability to learn new techniques as required. A proficiency in general DIY abilities will be advantageous for physical installations but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution:

- Collaborate with IT Project Managers to define project scope, objectives, and timelines.

- Develop detailed implementation plans, including tasks, timelines, and resource allocation.

- Execute IT projects according to plan, ensuring that all technical components are implemented correctly.

2. Technical Implementation:

- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components.

- Troubleshoot technical issues during project implementation and provide timely resolutions.

- Ensure that all IT systems and solutions are aligned with industry best practices and security standards.

3. Documentation:

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including project plans, configuration guides, and operational procedures.

- Train end-users and support teams on new technology implementations.

4. Quality Assurance:

- Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance processes to validate the functionality and performance of implemented solutions.

- Identify and address any issues or discrepancies in project deliverables.

 

5. Collaboration:

- Collaborate with other project team members, as well the sales, marketing and technical support departments, to ensure seamless project integration.

- Communicate project status, issues, and risks to stakeholders and management.

 

6. Technology Evaluation:

- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.

- Participate in technology evaluations and provide recommendations for hardware and software procurement.iii

Qualifications/Experience:

- Proven experience as an IT Projects Engineer or similar role implementing IT projects.

- Strong knowledge of hardware and software components, including servers, databases, operating systems, and networking.

- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Full, clean UK driving license.

- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) are beneficial but not essential.

- Practical DIY skills.
